Welcome Aboard: Why We Traded a Driveway for a Dirt Road

A forty-foot coach, two people, and a long list of places we've never parked. Here's what life on the bus actually looks like, and what's coming to this blog.

Welcome Aboard: Why We Traded a Driveway for a Dirt Road

Every trip on the bus starts the same way: one of us asks, “Did you latch the fridge?” and the other one says, “Definitely,” with no real confidence. Then we pull out, something in a cabinet rattles, and the adventure is officially underway.

This blog is where we’ll keep track of all of it: the roads, the parking spots, the projects, and the small moments that make living in a converted coach worth the occasional leaky window.

The best view is the one out the windshield

There’s a particular kind of quiet you only get when you park somewhere wide open and turn the engine off. The dust settles, the sky does its thing, and suddenly a bowl of soup on the front step feels like a five-star dinner.

Some of our favorite evenings so far have looked exactly like that: no plans, a good sunset, and nowhere we need to be in the morning.

Things we’ve learned (mostly the hard way)

What you’ll find here

We’ll be sharing:

  1. Trip stories: where we went, what we found, and what we’d do differently.
  2. Bus projects: the build, the fixes, and the “why is that dripping?” moments.
  3. Practical notes: parking, water, power, and the gear that’s earned its spot.

Come along for the ride

If you’re dreaming about life on the road, already living it, or just enjoy watching other people figure it out, we’re glad you’re here. New stories will show up as we roll, and you can follow along by RSS so you never miss a stop.

See you down the road,

Jeff & Amy
